Cloud for the Telco’s

Company Description and Problem

One of South Africa’s top 5 Telco’s have identified cloud as a key driver to reduce their cost and improve their innovation. As part of their move to the cloud, it was important for them to create a self-service model allowing their developers to provision their own infrastructure that’s within the company’s security policies.

Solution

Designing and implementing shared infrastructure that enabled hybrid cloud was the foundation for self-service which allowed the cloud team to govern all interactions through the platform. The next steps involve centrally writing and sharing compute infrastructure scripts that will enable developers to provision their own Kubernetes clusters or join existing clusters. In addition, there are various scripts that are deployed on account creation that pre-provision networking services ensuring out the box hybrid connectivity.

Outcome

Due to the central deployment of services, costs were reduced as well as decreased overheads of managing individual account configurations.
